This
week's "TALES FROM THE TAPEDECK"
is by Seattle's own & former co-host from
Nasty-Nes' "KCMU Rap
Attack," Mike Clark
with "Reheat Volume 1" his first installment
of a R&B blend CD's...
This CD contains 16 heaters for your
listening pleasure. Standout tracks include
the lead track which takes Destiny's
Child's "Soldier" and is
cleverly placed over the G Spot Boyz "Stanky
Leg" instrumental and the highly
slept on "Switch" by
Ashanti over The Dream's "Rockin'
That S**t" blend.
Favorite tracks on the cd are the "Rockin'
That S**t" acapella over Too
Short's "Freaky Tales" and the
other being the late Aaliyah's "If
Your Girl Only Knew" over "Blame
It On The Alcohol."
The most interesting blend has got to be
Stevie Wonder's "My Cherie Amour"
which is a timeless classic, not to mention
an all time favorite of Nes' over Snoop's
"Candy (Drippin' Like Water)." This
particular track has been well received by
both young and new as well as Usher's "U
Make Me Wanna" over Ice Cube's "It
Was A Good Day."
"The inspiration to create this came from
fellow Northwest DJ's, Funk Daddy, B
Mello, Topspin and Roc' Phella.
The motivation behind it was taking records
that were hot and reheating them with a lil
somethin' different, by taking the acapella
and putting it over a different beat to
create the blend. You are probably wondering
why I mentioned that. The reason is because
you would not believe how many times a day
I'm asked "What's a blend?"...LOL!, says
"Mike Clark."
In addition, "I could have added more tracks
on there and "Reheat Volume 2"
that will be out in July will definitely
have more tracks on their, including one
that I've completed already for the late
Michael Jackson."
