Just about every Hip Hop video’s the same — cars, money, booze, weed & strippers, right? Well . . . not every, but close! Here's a video that has none of that but is DOPE and it features Ciphurphace's daughter. It's the official Ciphurphace video for "I'll Always Love H.E.R." starring Sela Eunae as H.E.R.
Shot & directed by Ciphurphace.

When I hear the name Ciphurphace, I think of Korean Kim Chee & I think of one of this year’s dopest emcee, Ciphurphace!

Straight outta AZ & now living in NJ, here's Ciphurphace (left) spreading his Hip Hop love & single, “Reflections” with
Ahsan The Golden Child at Rutger's WRSU radio.

Who’s Kic Beats, where’s he from, what’s his resume like, who’s influenced him
& how’s it feel to be on tour with the Hip Hop Pioneer Masta Ace?

Ryan Anthony Lucero aka Kic Beats, born December 22nd, is originally from West LA near Santa Monica. His mother Maria Lucero is from Puerto Rico and grew up in Bronx while his father, Robert Lucero, is a Latin jazz vocalist and percussionist from LA who grew up in the Venice Beach area. Kic believes that being the youngest of four kids has its perks as well as downfalls.“I always ended up with the best scenario, learning from their mistakes and experiences. The downside is that the youngest is never heard or taken seriously, which might have been another catalyst or spark in my interest in music.”

He grew up with pianos, drum kits and a musically gifted family. Both parents, brother Rick and sisters Jill and Lori noticed his passion for music early on, Rick being his biggest influence. “He encouraged me and taught me the fundamentals. When I was 8 or 9 my brother showed me how to produce, adding bridges and turn-arounds.” His brother, a notable musician in the music scene, was the lead guitarist for legendary Stevie Wonder and also played with Jazz heavyweights such as Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard, Sal Marquez among others.

De La Soul is DEAD?

May 13, 2016 (Friday the 13th) marks the 25th Anniversary of the De La Soul is Dead album. This album was released on May 13, 1991.

To celebrate it's 25th Anniversary, we've assembled memorials in NYC at two locations that are very meaningful to the creation of this historic album.

The first location is 298 Elizabeth Street where Russell Simmons, our former manager, had his Rush Management office. That’s where the album title
De La Soul Is Dead came to life. The second location is at 37th Street & 8th Avenue. This is where Calliope Recording Studios once thrived and where most of the Dead album was mixed & recorded.

Please visit the memorial website we’ve created and re-live this album with us. Sign our memorial, then listen to the album on the site. Let us know that Hip Hop will not be not forgotten!

Be a part of the legacy.
DLS . . . Remain In Peace.

Our new album
“and the Anonymous Nobody” by De La Soul will be available for pre-order on iTunes 5/20/2016.
There’s an unreleased song produced by Posdnous from the “
Dead” sessions of 1991. You can get the song here: http://www.delasoulisdead.com

KCMU RAP ATTACK #FBF 1988: I found this on You Tube — a rare recording of two of my very first RAP ATTACK radio shows aired in 1988. The first link is about 37 min long & you can hear my MasterMix around 10min 30 sec into it. Both aired on 90.3FM KCMU, 28 years ago. I was fired from KFOX in April of 1988 as the station was sold & they made it clear to me that the new KFOX would NOT play RAP/Hip Hop anymore. KCMU, based on the UW campus, offered me a Sunday night slot around July of 1988 to keep KFOX FRESHTRACKS on the air. I accepted the offer, went from AM to FM in 3 months & renamed my show KCMU RAP ATTACK. I wanted this show to sound just as good as if you're listening to a Casey Kasem American Top 40 show or any professional sounding show you'd hear on commercial radio. I didn't want to just yell on a mic & say my name in a mix or during the show so I invested $$$ in getting Professional Custom Voice Over Drops. I also made my own Drops & the rest is Seattle Hip Hop HISTORY!
Here it is from 1988 (28 years ago) yours truly,
